Sparkling Pineapple Hibiscus Spritzer Recipe

Sparkling Pineapple Hibiscus Spritzer Recipe

As I mention a lot in my Instagram posts, a combination of flavors is nearly always better than one flavor. Consider chocolate, for example. It combines bitter and sweet, which made it one of the most beloved foods by humans. For this recipe, Sparkling Pineapple Hibiscus Spritzer, I had in mind my personal favorite combination, tart plus sweet. Hibiscus plus ripe pineapple.

Besides incredible flavor of this refreshment, it also has some added benefits. One glass contains more vitamin C than a whole lemon. Hibiscus is a serious vitamin C booster. Moreover, there are no added sugars or sweeteners of any kind. The sweetness comes from the pineapple itself.

Without further due, here is the recipe:

 Makes: 4 glasses

 Ingredients:

Hibiscus & Hawaiian Fruit Herbal Tea

Two 20 oz cans of pineapple rings

          Sparkling water

          Ice

 Instructions:

1.       Make hibiscus syrup. Combine 5 teaspoons of Hibiscus &   Hawaiian Fruit Herbal Tea and 1 cup of boiling water in a   teapot or a jar. Steep for 20+ minutes.

2.       Pour pineapple juice out of 2 cans of pineapple rings into   another container. Two 20 oz cans should yield   approximately 2 cups of juice.

3.       Add pineapple rings and ice into a glass. Pour ¼ cup of   hibiscus syrup (through a strainer), ½ cup of pineapple juice,   fill the rest with sparkling water.

4.       Garnish with pineapple rings.

I wish I would come up with this recipe at the beginning of summer. I would complain less about the intolerable heat we had this year. Disclaimer: I don’t handle this scorching season that great. In Hawaii you can definitely enjoy this beverage all year round. As for the mainlanders, well, who said you need summer to  partake in the pleasure of this drink?
